Outlook 2002-03 | Outlook 2000 | Outlook Express | Netscape

To Configure Microsoft Outlook 2002-03 do the following:

  1. Start up Outlook.
  2. Select Tools, Email Accounts from the top menu.
  3. Select the radio button "Add a new e-mail account" and click next.
  4. Select the POP3 radio button and click next.
  5. In the "Internet Email Settings" window, under "User Information", enter your name and e-mail address (you@yourdomain.com).
  6. Under "Server Information", enter your mail server name, mail.yourdomain.com, for both POP3 and SMTP.
  7. Under "Logon Information", enter username (you@yourdomain.com) and your password. The "Log on Using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" box should not be checked.
  8. Click "Test Settings." If you are connected to the internet you will see a test screen and it should pass all the tests. If you do not pass all the tests, please review your settings and look for typos. Make sure you use your full email address as your user name, e.g. you@yourdomain.com. You must include your domain name in your username.
  9. Click on "More Settings."
  10. Next under the General tab, Fill the information out as you like. These are optional.
  11. Next under the Outgoing Server tab, make sure the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" radio button is checked as well as "Use the same settings as my incoming mail server."
  12. Select the Advanced tab. Under "Delivery" check all three: "Leave a copy of the message on the server", "Remove from server after 5 days" (set 5 days to 10 days), and finally "Remove from server when deleted from deleted items." If you plan not to check your email for more 10 days you will want to change the day accordingly.
  13. Click on "OK", "Next", and Finish.
